The campy, tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek photo we all posed for in late summer 1979 (remember, years ago, people never smiled in photographs because it was considered presumptuous) had renewed meaning as I ran across it again the other day. It was that year we moved our fledgling offices from temporary quarters to the Edgebrook office building in Rockford, IL where we stayed for 11 years.
It just so happens in August this year, we will observe our 1-year anniversary of deja vu tenancy on the same 5th floor of the same building as we again moved into the Edgebrook office building last summer. Blair Inc., nee Rathke Blair Kerns, will be 33 years old.
A great photo never goes out of style. Neither does the truck. Just saw what I thought was the same slat-walled pickup on the road the other day.Click on the image below to view a larger version.
Rather than breaking out the noisemakers, or tipping the almost empty Kahlua bottle (maybe it's Geritol) in search of lost youth, we (actually, I) decided to remain more low key when it came to observing our 30th year of business.
Perhaps it had to do with the mood suggested by the campy, tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek photo we all posed for in the late summer of 1979 (remember, years ago, people never smiled in photographs because it was considered presumptuous).
